Arriving at the library, I glance up at the magnificent beams that border the front. This place must hold some heavy magic books because the scent of magic is strong, it's almost eye watering. I hop up each marble stair, and as soon as I come up on the last one, an invisible forcefield throws me back onto the ground ass first.

"Ouch, what the hell?!"

This ear-grating laughter comes from the side and I spot Helena and her hive cackling and glaring at me. "Look who's banned from the library!" She points at me and slaps her knee.

What I wouldn't give to have at her. My wolf growls, sharing the same sentiment. Atta girl.

"Fuck you. I haven't even been here before!" How the hell could I be banned from a place that... Shit. The Dean.

Helena flips her hair. "Still banned. How embarrassing. Definitely not mate material for the head Alpha's son."

Lunai takes the wheel and my body charges the forcefield, my claws out and glistening under the sun. My claws make it a few inches into the forcefield, causing her friends to scatter into the library's open doors. Helena steps back, but doesn't run away. Her wolf rises to the surface but she doesn't dare buck at me.

Dominance. It's on my side and always will be.

"Bitch, don't test my patience. Being a plan 'B' is more of an insult than being rejected plan A."

A woman stalks out of the library fuming. She has a wiry frame and her hair in a tight up do with black framed glasses. She looks back and forth between me and Helena. "Excuse me! This is a library, not a sparing space. Take this elsewhere." Her scent... she's an elf. Oh yeah, I see the pointed ears now. She points at me, my claws still stuck in the forcefield. "And you, you know you can't come inside, take your claws out and leave at once!"

"Fine."

Helena smirks. "Bye."

The librarian turns around and snaps, "Inside or outside with you too." Heh.

I grumble, but pull my Helena slicers out of the forcefield and run back off to my dorm. Time is valuable, I can't waste it on someone like Helena. She's the least of my concerns.

Killer locket.

Killer wolf.

Killer secrets.

What the hell am I then?

I pull the door to my dorm room I share with Gwen open and drag my feet inside. If I'm banned from the library, there's no telling how many other places I'm forbidden to go.

"Stella, there you are!" Gwen exasperates, jumping off of her bed. "I didn't see you in Magic 101. I got so worried."

"Did you think the Dark Fey ran off with me?" I faceplant into my soft bed and exhale.

"Not funny, anything is possible with magic these days."

Flipping myself over, I stare at the ceiling and stretch my arms out. "Gwen, I tried to go to the library..."

"Tried? Did you get lost?"

"Heh. No, I was banned before I even got there. Forcefield blew me to my feet." No need to tell her about Helena, that will just get my gears grinding in the wrong direction.
